BCPVA Meeting – Tues March 26th 2019 – Lights, Camera, Audio and ACTION!

Here we come members & guests with the last meeting at our Community Living Society location. This month we workshop a skill that is so fundamental to telling your client’s story that you should never stop sharpening this tool, and we are handing out the carbide here!

Main Presentation

Getting Great Interviews when Time & Budgets are Tight

BCPVA Professional Members will demonstrate how to setup cameras, lights and audio for efficient, tightly budgeted interviews. We’ll be walked through their goals and thought processes behind camera position, subject position, composition, lighting and audio. Special consideration will be given to best utilizing interview spaces that so often are less than ideal. Questions about, and discussions on how other members tackle the challenges of setting up for interviews are welcome!

Associate Member Presentation

Skillen & Co

Nathan Skillen got his start in film at Galiano Island’s GIFTS film school as a teenager, and editing videos with his home VCR to make videos in lieu of class presentations during high school. He graduated in BCIT’s Broadcast Television program and ventured into the broadcast news world at Global for 2 years. Ultimately, knowing that being in a creative role and having ownership over his work was most important, Nathan left Global and went freelance 8 years ago.

Nathan currently works for a range of clients – organizations, business, political, government as well as other producers, production companies and agencies, primarily producing short-form doc and story based content for clients. He excels best at leading tight-knit teams of filmmakers and digging in deep to stories to solve client goals.
