Fusion 2012: DSLR Videography Trade Show and Speaker Series

Beau Photo Supplies is proud to present Fusion 2012 – the second annual trade show of gear and techniques for the DSLR videographer: camera rigs, recording devices, camera stabilizers, lighting and grip equipment will all be featured in this one event, following on the heels of last year’s hugely successful Fusion 2011.

This year’s event will kick off with a special presentation by Kirk Neff at Langara College on the evening of February 24th from 7 PM till 9 PM. The main trade show and speaker series will take place at the Vancouver Convention Center at Canada Place on Saturday February 25th. Focusing on the continually growing DSLR video market, we will be bringing together industry leaders and showcasing cutting edge products that help photographers and videographers create compelling work more efficiently. Fusion 2012 will appeal to the photographer who is transitioning from DSLR stills to DSLR video as well as those videographers who are already established and want to learn how to achieve better results, see the hottest new gear and hear about the latest industry trends.

Fusion 2012 will feature booths from; Nikon, Canon, Adobe, Amplis/Amaya, Beachtek, Cinevate, Dominion Lending, K5600 Lighting, Lensbaby, NEC, Profoto, Panasonic, Sennheiser, Steadicam/ Tiffen, Sunbounce, Wacom, Langara College and Van Arts. We are also presenting a series of talks by Kirk Neff, Nick Didlick, Alex Gower-Jackson and Mitch Wood.

Nick Didlick has been an editorial and commercial photographer for over 30 years. Having been based in Vancouver, Brussels and London he calls Vancouver home. Twice nominated for a Pulitzer by Reuters news pictures, he has covered many of the world’s major news and sports events. Nick’s topic will be an intro to video for still photographers. From equipment and planning to shooting your “first video” his lecture will be full of tips and tricks.

Alex Gower-Jackson is a Director / Creative Producer based in Vancouver. In the lead up to the 2010 Winter Olympics he was involved in several aerial filming projects commissioned to promote Canada. As director/ producer on these shoots he was part of a team of specialists who combined their skills to create many hours of compelling and beautiful footage. Alex will speak about his work on the spectacular shots for the opening of the 2011 Winter Olympics and the many aspects to aerial film work from both a creative and logistics perspective.

Mitch Wood is a Senior Solutions Engineers for Adobe Systems. “Little cameras are bringing big changes to your production toolset”. You’ll also learn how Adobe Premiere Pro is an integral part of your core editing workflow enabling you to deliver productions faster than ever. Based in the Seattle Adobe offices, Mitch has over 25 years’ experience in film and video production including work on several television series and motion pictures. He is a specialist in Adobe Premiere Pro and Adobe Premiere Pro workflows.

Kirk Neff is a former Senior Photojournalist and a current Director of Photography for Global Television’s program “16 x 9”. With 18 years of experience Kirk Neff has worked for some of the best news establishments in Canada. Kirk will be talking about how he got involved shooting with a DSLR and why he now prefers this instead of the traditional big shoulder camera. Kirk will also cover why and how he made this change to shooting DSLR exclusively as well as the advantages and disadvantages of using a DSLR to shoot long format news stories.
