Jun 27 – BCPVA meeting – Paul Armstrong – New Pro Member Presentation

Hello BCPVA members and guests,

Please join us for an exciting evening on Tuesday, June 27, 2017. As a reminder – our new meeting date is the 4th Tuesday of each month!

We’ll be at the Community Living Society, located on the 7th floor of 713 Columbia Street in New Westminster (Columbia & Begbie, beside Waves coffee shop).

Networking will begin at 6:30, and the meeting will formally begin at 7:00 and run until 9:00 with a 15 minute break.

 

1)   Paul Armstrong: Adventures in the Indie Film Scene

Paul Armstrong is an award winning producer with over 50 producing credits in almost 20 years of producing films in Vancouver. He has produced 5 dramatic feature films including ‘Moving Malcolm’ starring Elizabeth Berkley (‘Showgirls’) and filmed by Greg Middleton (‘Game of Thrones’), who also shot Paul’s first produced short ‘Mon Amour Mon Parapluie’ on black and white 35mm film. Paul associate produced one of the first HD features in Canada in January 2000 with a free package from Sony. One of his features, shot by Pieter Stathis of RAW Camera, premiered at the Toronto International Film Festival. Paul also founded and still produces the monthly film screening event the Celluloid Social Club, now in its 20th year. He is also the Executive Director of Crazy8s, Vancouver’s leading short film contest.
Paul is currently filming 5 short documentaries in China as part of the Looking China program and is in production on the CBC Documentary Channel feature doc ‘Cool Daddy’ directed by Roger Larry and featuring jazz singing legend Kenny Colman and his son Chase Colman.

 

2)    New Professional Member Presentation by Media Button

3)    Associate Member Presentation
Ley Mo will present on his portfolio of work, featuring his drone videography.

Meeting will end with a 15 minute open discussion.

PAID street parking outside, some FREE street parking a few blocks away.
There is ample parking, but you can decide to pay a few bucks to the parking meter (should be less than $5), or park at a parkade (a little more expensive, maybe around $7), or park in a free 2-hour zone and walk a few blocks. Below is a rough map of the area, but please allow extra time for parking when you first come.
