March 2016 newsletter image

Hello BCPVA members and guests,

First off – KUDOS!!!

Just a reminder, entries for our KUDOS competition are now being accepted! You have until April 15 at 11:59 pm to get your videos in. Members get ONE complimentary entry for EACH category (videos that deliver a message / videos that tell a story / videos that document an event) – so yes, you can enter 3 videos, so long as they are each in a different category. Extra entries are $25/video. Full rules and entry form are here. Good luck!!

For our meeting, please join us on March 30, 2016 at JIBC for two awesome presentations:

1)     Insurance Needs for Video Production

On top of general liability and business insurance, video production has its own brand of insurance needs. Get the low down on insurance for rental equipment, locations, errors & omissions, and more! Mark Callow has been specializing in entertainment insurance in Vancouver for decades – bring your questions!

Presenter: Mark Callow, Callow Insurance

2)       Presentation by New Professional Member Scott White, Shinobi Creative Productions

Originally from an ad agency / graphic design background, Scott decided to indulge his passion for video and photography and formed Shinobi Creative Productions back in 2000. A zen-like composure and attention to detail stems from many years of training in the martial arts, both as student and teacher (hence the homage to SHINOBI : ) His many projects include business, event, concert and PSA productions for clients such as Terry Fox Research Institute, Yellow Pages Canada & TWIST Sport Conditioning. Occasionally emerging from the editing-room shadows, he is always searching for new challenges and beautiful locations.
