NAB 2018 Report ,VIA Awards & Pro Member Presentation

Hello BCPVA members and guests,

NAB 2018 has just completed and we’re here with all the Hot News  Tuesday, April 24th, 2018.

We’ll be at the Community Living Society, located on the 7th floor of 713 Columbia Street in New Westminster (Columbia & Begbie, beside Waves coffee shop).

Networking will begin at 6:30, and the meeting will formally begin at 7:00 and run until 9:00 with a 15 minute break.

1)   Report on NAB 2018 and the 8th Annual VIA Award Winners

Shawn Lam, Former BCPVA President, and Michael Rendulic, BCPVA Executive member, will be reporting back from the NAB Show in Las Vegas to tell us about the awesome new gear that’s out and to announce their selections for the 8th annual BCPVA VIA awards. These awards are presented to companies at NAB who have released new products that are game-changers for corporate and event video producers. In order for products to be eligible, a pre-production or production model must be demonstrated at NAB.

2)    New Professional Member Presentation

Ramin Mohseni is an award-winning director and producer with more than 20 years of professional experience in the film and television industry.  His acclaimed feature film FROM AFAR, officially screened in Vancouver International Film Festival in 2006 and won the grand prize for Best Feature Film at Mexico’s FICA Acapulco Int’l Film Festival in 2007. His latest 7- Hours documentary series called ‘AZERBAIJAN’ has been on air on OMNI BC channel in 2017-2018. He has been also a Videographer/Cinematographer and a senior Editor for hundreds of hours of broadcast quality documentaries and TV magazine show in Iran and Canada.

Ramin holds a professional Masters Degree in Screenwriting and a B.S. in Industrial Engineering (with a thesis project dedicated to ‘Computer Aided Film Production Planning’). He is a Member of Directors Guild of Iranian Cinema, the Association of Iranian Documentary Producers also ‘Visual Arts Committee’ at ‘Evergreen Cultural Centre’ in Coquitlam, BC. After immigrating to Canada, He established Azersam Film+Media Inc. in British Columbia and founded Aria TV Vancouver, which is a Persian Community Television with four weekly shows on OMNI Television and Shaw Multicultural Channel; and a fully equipped multi-camera production studio based in North Vancouver.

Meeting will end with a 15 minute open discussion.

PAID street parking outside, some FREE street parking a few blocks away.
There is ample parking, but you can decide to pay a few bucks to the parking meter (should be less than $5), or park at a parkade (a little more expensive, maybe around $7), or park in a free 2-hour zone and walk a few blocks. Below is a rough map of the area, but please allow extra time for parking when you first come.
