What are the BCPVA Kudos Awards?

The BCPVA Kudos Video Awards Competition is open to all BC videographers, video production companies, and video students.

The producers of the submitted videos could win THOUSAND$ in great prizes from sponsors Fusion Cine, Swell Music, Black Magic, Western Imperial Magnetics, Lorne Lapham, Atomos, Red Giant, Vmix 4K, Gearhouse Rentals and others!

The Kudos awards have three categories:

1) Videos that deliver a message

Examples include but are not limited to: Corporate, promotional, educational, instructional, tutorial, commercials.

2) Videos that tell a story

Examples include but are not limited to: Documentary, short film, biographies, interviews.

3) Videos that document an event

Examples include but are not limited to: Wedding, social event, bar/bat mitzvah, corporate event, sport/stage event.

Judging

  1. A group of independent judges will select the 5 finalists and 3 winners in each category.
  2. The audience at the screening will vote for the peoples choice award.

Prizes worth thousands of dollars will awarded to the top videos.

Kudos Rules and Regulations

Eligibility

The Kudos Awards competition is open to BCPVA members only for videos produced after January 1, 2015. Entrants agree to grant the BCPVA the rights to display all video entries on BCPVA.com in perpetuity. All finalists and winners agree to give permission for the BCPVA to use their name in any promotional material for upcoming “Kudos Awards” in perpetuity.

Entry Fee

The Kudos Awards are open to all members of the British Columbia Professional Videographers Association (BCPVA). Entrants must be BCPVA members (Associate, Professional) at the time of the entry and final judging but are not required to maintain membership beyond the completion of the contest. Non members can enter by purchasing a 3 month membership for $25.00 which will entitles them to one free entry.
Membership information and payments are accepted on BCPVA.com.
Every BCPVA member is eligible to enter one free video entry per category. Each additional entry is subject to $25.00 per entry.

Contest Format & Judging

  1. Every entrant will upload and provide a file-share download link to their video .
  2. The video must be no longer than 5 minutes in length, including credits.
  3. Entries will be accepted between March 15 2016 and April 15 2016
  4. The top 5 entries from each category as selected by the judges will be the finalist for the contest and be screened at “The KUDOS Awards” on Saturday, April 30, 2016 at the Vancouver Film festival Theatre.
  5. The top 3 winners in each category will be announced at the April 30th event.
  6. Specifics: 1920 x 1080 24P / 30P, H.264 codec (MP4 or MOV files only), 20Mbps max

Categories

The Kudos Awards accepted entries in the following three categories:

1) Videos that deliver a message

Examples include but are not limited to:
Corporate, promotional, educational, instructional, tutorial, commercials.

2) Videos that tell a story

Examples include but are not limited to:
Documentary, short film, biographies, interviews

3) Videos that document an event

Examples include but are not limited to:
Wedding, social event, bar/bat mitzvah, corporate event, sport/stage event.
*** It is up to the entrant to decide which category they feel best fits their video entry and against which their entry will be compared.

Entry Restrictions

  • No copyrighted music is allowed on any video entry unless you have the necessary license or permission to use such work in Canada. Royalty free, buy-out, and music that you have the rights and/or permission to use is permitted.
  • No obscene, pornographic material, or scenes that contain threats to any place, person, group or entity are permitted. Acceptable content decisions are at the sole discretion of the Kudos Awards Committee.
  • Proper releases must to available for review by The Kudos Awards committee for every person who appears recognizably in your submission.
  • Use of live animals in your submission must be done within all the laws and regulations in Canada.

Limitations of Liability

The Kudos Awards Committee assumes no responsibility for an error, omission, interruption, delay, computer virus, transmission line failure or technical malfunction of any kind that could or will effect the running of The Kudos Awards. Should The Kudos Awards need to be cancelled for any reason, notification will be given to all entrants and any entry fees received for video submissions refunds in reasonable amount of time.
