Why No One is Visiting the BCPVA Website

It’s because no one can find us!

I have made a handy dandy video showing you how to correct that. You’ll also want to full screen this (it is 720p) so that you can see what I’m doing. And oh yeah, sorry about the fast talking, I got a little carried away!

Now, if you’re web savvy enough, you can code the links yourself to your website using the info in the picture below. I posted a picture because every time I posted code, it made them into links, as opposed to showing the code. I know there is a way to have the code copy and paste-able, but I couldn’t find it out within 5 minutes of searching online. If anyone knows how to do this, do let me know and I can switch it up.

How to Link to the BCPVA Site

If you can’t do this yourself, do let me know, and I would be more than happy to help. Just give me a call at 778.386.9877 or send me an email at greg@bcpva.com.

Here’s a sample of how a text links would look.

BC Professional Videographers Association | Vancouver Videography and Video Production

Now, let’s all link to the BCPVA site properly and see our rankings rise!

Update

Thanks to Devon from storybubble pictures for this. He let me know how I can have the html code in the body of this document so that people could cut and paste it.

I don’t know if this is the current way of doing it, but I believe you used to be able to enclose HTML text in tags and it would print.

Alternately, the other method is to replace all the "" characters with >.

Looks like comments accept HTML tags … which means I need to escape them properly. The proper message should have read:

I don't know if this is the current way of doing it, but I believe you used to be able to enclose HTML text in tags and it would print.

Alternately, the other method is to replace all the "<" characters with < and all the ">" characters with >.

To play devils advocated. Some of us may not want our clients to be able to find our competition so easily.

Thanks for the tip Devon! Worked like a charm. I knew about the code tag but not the &alt; and > for the “<” and “>”.

Ha ha. I laugh, but that is always a point. I think the overall benefit would outweigh any negative. Yes, anyone can see this post and the video, but the information is out there and anyone searching for “Vancouver Videographer” for example are not finding most BCPVA members anyways.

We're trying to get the http://www.BCPVA.com site found so that they are looking here first, but some of the items I will be talking about will help BCPVA members get their sites higher up as well.

In the end, I hope to see the http://www.BCPVA.com site and member sites all rise in the search rankings, being an overall benefit to everyone.

As to quality of work and who to hire, that is for potential clients to look at and decide.
