B.C. Professional Videographers Association members are invited to attend Voices of the Elders, the Association of Personal Historians Conference in Victoria, B.C., November 3–7, 2010. Personal historians come from backgrounds in journalism, film, oral history, gerontology, education and many other disciplines to discover the deep satisfaction and financial rewards of documenting the lives of individuals and families and the histories of corporations and communities. Personal history is a natural niche for videographers, a logical career choice and an ideal way to supplement freelance income.
Learn about the markets and skills associated with being a personal video biographer. Offered are 25 informative workshops conducted by leaders in the personal history field. They include presentations about unusual business models, approaches to marketing a personal history business and new ways to package a personal history product. Other topics covered: project management, understanding the potential for video and print life stories and many more.
Preceding the conference are two concurrent day-long seminars:
